MEET OUR OPTOMETRISTS
We've been at Teed St for almost 23 years and extend a heart felt "thank you" to all of the customers/patients who've used our eyecare services.
We also want to thank everyone who has taken the time to give us a review and help us achieve over 500 5 Star Google Reviews! For those who've joined us more recently, here's a little more about us. Our clinical team is lead by owner/founder Michael Holmes who works closely with Tiffany Ong and Eva Woodward.
We're a 100% independent, not part of any chain or buying group and the practice continues to be owned by founder Michael Holmes and wife Kay McFarlane who takes care of the optical retail business.
MICHAEL HOLMES – BSC MCOPTOM
Has been practicing for 30 years and still loves every day at work. Michael is a member of the British College of Optometrists and the New Zealand Opticians and Dispensing Opticians Board. He is Civil Aviation Authority-accredited and holds a Certificate in Ocular Pharmacology from the University of Auckland. His vast experience and focus on the individual ensures comprehensive and long standing client relationships.
EVA WOODWARD – BOPTOM (HONS)
Eva is a graduate of the Optometry School of Auckland University 2017 and holds a Bachelor of Optometry with Honours. She returned to Auckland to join MHPE in 2022, having gained extensive experience working in an independent practice in Dunedin for 5 years. In a world where everything is so rushed, Eva values taking time with patients to ensure ongoing care of the highest standard. Eva practices all aspects of clinical optometry and is Civil Aviation Authority- accredited.
TIFFANY ONG – BOPTOM (HONS)
Tiffany Ong completed her Bachelor of Optometry with first class honours at the University of Auckland (2020) and joined MHPE at the beginning of 2021. She is Civil Aviation Authority -accredited. Tiffany is valued by her patients for her high standards of detailed care across all aspects of clinical optometry. Tiffany also enjoys dispensing beautiful glasses and ensuring her patients make the best frame choice.

Healthy vision and achieving the best results requires a full understanding of every client's lifestyle and occupation. This is why our optometrists take care of you throughout the examination from start to finish. We don't leave preliminary testing to lay staff.
Our in-depth standard testing will take an hour for your first consultation and 45-60 minutes thereafter.
We specialise in the monitoring of eye health and early detection of eye disease. Our areas of expertise include glaucoma, macular degeneration, cataracts, dry eye and myopia control.
We're equipped with the latest technology including a retinal camera and an OCT (optical coherence tomographer) which allows our optometrists to look deeper and take cross-section pictures of your retina. We don't charge extra for these and our exam fee includes all tests required to ensure your eyes are healthy.
Regular eye examinations are important because if we find something untoward at an early stage, there are usually more treatment options. We have excellent relationships with Auckland's leading ophthalmologists, making the referral process easy for those that do need further specialist care.

CIVIL AVIATION AUTHORITY EXAMINATIONS
Our optometry team are all Civil Aviation Authority accredited and able to undertake visual examinations for pilots.
