We’re so proud of our optometry team and now have 3 full time optometrists enabling us to offer more clinical appointments across 6 days Monday-Saturday.

Our optometrists offer exceptional eye care via comprehensive eye examinations. All are therapeutically endorsed or qualified, which means they can assist with treating a variety of eye diseases as well as making sure your eyes are healthy and your prescription is accurate.   

Our eye examinations include retinal photography and an OCT scan ensuring a very thorough investigation of the health of the eyes.

MEET MICHAEL HOLMES - BSC MCOPTOM

Most of you will know our owner and head of the clinical team, Michael Holmes. Michael has been practising for more years than he cares to admit but says it is over 30!

Even after so many years, Michael loves his job and the privilege of helping his patients take care of their eye health and eyewear.

The business has grown considerably since Michael first started an optometry practice in Teed St, Newmarket over 20 years ago. He is very grateful for the loyalty and support of all of his patients, many of whom have become friends.

These days Michael enjoys the support from working as a team with Tiffany and Eva.  When he isn’t needed at work, Michael loves to get out in the countryside for some trail running.

MEET EVA WOODWARD- BOPTOM (HONS)

Eva Woodward is a graduate of the Optometry School at Auckland University 2017 and holds a Bachelor of Optometry with Honours.  She returned to Auckland to join MHPE in 2022, having worked for an independent optometry practice in Dunedin for 5 years, where she gained broad experience and honed her clinical skills across all aspects of optometry. 

In a world where everything seems so rushed, Eva values the time allocated for all eye examinations at MHPE.  She enjoys getting to know each patient and spending time to ensure she offers the highest standard of care, clinically and when dispensing spectacles.  

Outside of work, Eva enjoys reading, swimming, and going to pub quizzes with friends. At MHPE we value Eva’s sense of humour, she always lifts the team vibe by being lots of fun!

MEET TIFFANY ONG - BOPTOM (HONS) 

Tiffany Ong completed her Bachelor of Optometry, with first class Honours at the University of Auckland (2020) and joined MHPE at the beginning of 2021.

Born and raised in Auckland, from aged 10, Tiffany enjoyed working in her parents’ fish and chip shop business, appreciating the close connection and interaction with loyal customers. It was her positive experience of local business that drew her to seek out an optometry position in an independent practice.

Tiffany has always had a special interest in the medical field and during her first year of university, was offered a place in both medicine and optometry but chose optometry for the opportunity to combine health care with fashion (another keen interest). Being able to help people improve their vision has a significant impact on daily functioning, which Tiffany finds very rewarding.

With a broad experience in all aspects of optometry and dispensing, Tiffany is regarded as a highly skilled practitioner often praised by her patients for being very considerate and careful.

Tiffany is a highly valued member of the MHPE team with her warm and kind disposition (even when it is busy). On her days off she enjoys baking, reading and spending time with family.
