THE WORLD'S COOLEST OPTOMETRIST

STEP ASIDE MICHAEL! We'd like to introduce y'all to the world's coolest optometrist! The founder and creative director of Los Angeles based FOCUS GROUP WEST (FGW), a multi-disciplinary boutique branding and eyewear design firm, Blake Kuwahara launched his collection in 2015. Prior to that he spent many years designing eyewear and branding for some of the world's most famous collections including Carolina Herrera and John Varvatos. Kuwahara also has a doctorate of optometry from UC Berkeley but gave up testing eyes for a love of eyewear design.

A celebrity favorite, Kuwahara’s designs are worn by Brad Pitt, Sandra Bullock, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Halle Berry, Robert Downey, Jr., Samuel L. Jackson, Casey Affleck, and Charlize Theron among many others. He's also something of a celebrity himself having won numerous international awards for his designs.

THE COLLECTION
The Blake Kuwahara collection features a "frame within a frame" design, creating a unique silhouette unlike any other range.

LAMINATION
The creation of a single frame is a laborious process and an engineering feat. The inner and outer silhouettes are milled as separate pieces and go through an arduous two month proprietary lamination process. Another six months is required to mill, polish, and produce each frame.

SCULPTING & MILLING
Every frame goes through a complex series of cuts and polishing steps to give the outer and inner contours nuance and dimension. It’s not just how it looks, it's the feel.

The Blake Kuwahara signature hinges are custom made by the premier German hinge manufacturer, OBE, and are each laser engraved with a logo. on the interior. Nylon coated stainless steel screws are used to keep the frames in adjustment.
